Battle Flags of the 35th Indiana "Irish"

Artist interpretation of the 1st regimental banner presented to the men of the 35th Indiana in December 1861.  This interpretation comes from a newspaper article by an author named Vaness, before the regiment left Indianapolis for Kentucky.

Vaness, “Flag Presentation to the Irish Regiment,” Indianapolis Journal, December 13, 1861.

Above and below are artist interpretations of the 2d regimental banner presented to the men of the 35th Indiana at Atlanta, Georgia in 1864.  These banners exclude the battle honors rendered to the 35th Indiana inscribed with a shamrock on scrolls.  Therefore, either banner is correct in its interpretation. The original first regimental banner and the second regimental banner are lost to history.
